Hims vs Keeps for hair loss (2026): prices, plans and cancellation, side by side
Keeps is cheaper on finasteride and charges for shipping; Hims has a wider menu and an introductory price that rises. Both are free to consult and cancel. Here is every published number for the two most-searched hair-loss clinics, and what each one leaves out.
Short answer: Keeps is cheaper for plain finasteride, at $16 a month against $22 to $25, but it bills quarterly and adds $5 per shipment. Hims sells more treatments, including a compounded finasteride-and-minoxidil topical Keeps does not offer, and its headline price is the longest commitment on the cheapest medication. Over a year of finasteride alone: about $212 at Keeps against about $297 at Hims. Neither charges for the consult, and both let you cancel from your account.
Price by price
| Treatment | Hims | Keeps | The plan behind each number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oral finasteride | $22 $25 | $16 | Hims: $22–26 on a three-month plan, about $25 month to month. Keeps: billed quarterly, though three different sources have reported $16, $20 and $25 in 2026. |
| Topical minoxidil | $15 | $10 | Hims $15–20. Keeps $10–15, foam or solution. |
| Topical finasteride + minoxidil | $35 $50 | not sold | Hims sells a compounded 0.3% finasteride / 6% minoxidil spray; $35 needs a five-month plan, about $50 monthly. Keeps had no topical finasteride as of early 2026. |
| Oral dutasteride | not sold | in compounds only | Keeps includes it inside its Chew+ and Drop+ formulations added in 2026, not as a standalone prescription. |
| Bundles | $44 | $25 | Hims Hair Kit $44–49 billed quarterly, Hair Power Pack $50–80. Keeps finasteride + minoxidil $25–35, complete kits $30–57. |
| Consult | Free | Free | Both review an online questionnaire rather than requiring a video call. |
| Shipping | Free | $5 per shipment | Keeps ships a three-month supply at a time, so about $1.67 a month, or $20 a year. |
A year of finasteride at each
Using the index's arithmetic — first month at the advertised price, the rest at the ongoing price, plus shipping and consult fees:
- Keeps: about $212. $192 of medication plus $20 of shipping.
- Hims: about $297. $22 for the first month, about $25 for the other eleven, nothing else.
That is an $85 difference over a year, for the same generic tablet. It is also not the cheapest option in the index: Ro comes to about $180 and Dr. B, which sells a $19 consult and leaves you to buy the tablets, comes to about $103. The full ranking is in the annual cost briefing and the calculator.
Billing and cancellation
Hims bills monthly or quarterly, and its advertised "from" price applies to the longest commitment on a single medication. You cancel from your account; there are no refunds on opened medication, and the current terms are worth reading before you commit to a quarterly plan.
Keeps bills every three, six or twelve months, with each shipment a three-month supply and longer commitments discounted. You can pause or cancel anytime from your account with no cancellation fee, and in 2026 Keeps introduced a 180-day money-back guarantee with conditions attached. The longer plans are cheaper per month and harder to leave mid-term, which is the trade-off.
Step-by-step terms for both are on the Hims cancellation page and the Keeps cancellation page.
What each one leaves out
Hims: the "from" figure on the landing page is the cheapest medication on the longest plan, so most subscribers pay more after the first cycle. Hims' overall Trustpilot profile stood at 3.0 across 8,286 reviews in an August 2026 check — that covers the whole company, not the hair products alone, but it is worth knowing.
Keeps: no topical finasteride, which rules it out if that is what you want. And its finasteride price is the least stable figure in this index: three sources give three numbers, and one competitor's comparison page showed three different starting prices on a single page. Take the checkout figure as the real one.
Which one
Choose Keeps if you want generic finasteride, minoxidil or both at the lowest of the two prices and you do not mind paying for three months at a time. Choose Hims if you want the compounded topical, a wider menu to move between, or free shipping with monthly billing. If price is the only thing that matters, neither is the cheapest in this index — check the full list first, and read both clinics' head-to-head page for the current numbers.
